Grace, daughter of the late Jesse Dilworth Harrison and Bessie Lee McIntyre Harrison, was born on July 15, 1921 in Gloster, GA. She was the seventh of eight children—Essie Mae Britt, Esmer Haney, Hubert Harrison, Troy (Mutt) Harrison, Sylvie Harrison, J.A. Harrison, and Virginia (Genk) Dutton—who all preceded her in death.

She attended Bethesda High School and was an avid basketball player. At the age of 34, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in Curt and Ring Harrison’s lake by Preacher Tilman Singleton. She was a dedicated member of Gloster Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, GA and LifePoint Church in Palm Bay, FL.

She was united in marriage to John William Moore on April 18, 1942, and they were blessed with five children—Patricia Ann Moore Waits (New Port Richey, FL), Joan Maxine Lietz (Snellville, GA), John William Moore, Jr. (Wedowee, AL), Jerry Ronald Moore (Jefferson, GA), and Gerald Lee Moore (Dacula, GA). Tragically, John William Moore passed away on July 4, 1954.

She went on to marry Robert Lee Meadows on December 22, 1962. They enjoyed 24 years together before he passed away in 1986.

Grace was again united in marriage on April 18, 1987 to Capt. Homer Dewey Simpson. They spent 21 loving years together caravanning across the United States in their motor home and splitting their time between Grace’s home in Lawrenceville, GA and Dewey’s home in Palm Bay, FL. Dewey passed away on June 20, 2008.

Grace was a dear mother-in-law to Clifford Waits (New Port Richey, FL), Dave Lietz (Snellville, GA), Patricia Moore (Wedowee, AL), Debra Moore (d-May 2007), and Judy Moore (Dacula, GA).

She also had the great joy of being a grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She was also a cherished aunt and cousin to many.

Her beautiful life will be memorialized by Pastor Raymond Wilson and she will be interred beside her children’s father at First Baptist Church – Lilburn.
