HELEN MARIE WUENSTEL HARBOUR
(1920 - 2016)
Helen Wuenstel Harbour (12/1/1920 - 12/3/2016) Helen Wuenstel Harbour, 96, of San Antonio Texas, formerly of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, died peacefully in her sleep on December 3, 2016 at Emeritus at Amber Oaks in San Antonio. Born December 1, 1920 in Pittsburgh, she is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ernestine Martin of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, her husband, Fran Wuenstel also of Pittsburgh as well as her brothers' Patrick and Vincent Martin both of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Helen was born into a large Italian family. As a young woman, she spent her early years as a homemaker following her husband from Pittsburgh to Houston where they raised their 3 children. She became a young widow at 42 and a breast cancer survivor a few years later. Never letting anything get her down, she went on to live a full and productive life. Helen always loved getting together with family and cooking Italian meals for everyone's enjoyment. In her later years, she was an active member of St. Mathew Catholic parish when she lived independently in Houston and participated in their Seniors' group and craft class. She was a life long Catholic and greatly appreciated the Wednesday morning rosary, devotions and receiving Holy Communion while she lived at Amber Oaks Apartments. Helen will be greatly missed by the Amber Oaks family for her sense of humor and her ability to take out the older male residents who refused to move out of the way of her electric wheel chair.
