Joe Marshall Sigmon, 80, of Newton passed away peacefully December 5th, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born December 2, 1936, the son of the late John and Mable Sigmon, he was a lifelong resident of Newton. Joe had an endearing love for his family and friends and in return he was loved by many. His family was his life and he loved them abundantly. In recent years he particularly loved seeing the birth of his great-grandchildren. The highlight of his days were to see them come to visit. Joe was full of life and loved everyone unconditionally. He touched the lives of everyone he encountered and will be sorely missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Kermit “Bud” Sigmon, sisters Loretha Sigmon Queen and Francis Sigmon Cline.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 57 years, Glenda (Williams) Sigmon, his son, John “Glenn”; his daughters Telisia Cloninger and husband Adam, Tonya Ferrell and husband Robin; six grandchildren: Kyle Drum and wife Angela, Amber Bush and husband Jeff, Ashlee Lineberger, Danielle Sigmon, Casey Harbinson and husband Brandon, and Chelsea Ferrell and fiancé Chris Crawford; seven great grandchildren: Cooper and Corbin Drum, Penelope and Gabriel Sigmon, Sophie and Stella Bush, and Maddox Harbinson; brother Larry Sigmon and wife Debbie, sisters: Linda Harris and husband Gary, and Nancy Bumgarner and husband Donald; sister-in-law Marcella Lineberger and husband Tommy.
A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden. Rev. Michael Staton will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church.
