Charles Henry Loebach, 89, of Granville died peacefully Dec. 4, 2016, in his residence with his loving family by his side. Charles was born Aug. 19, 1927, in St. Mary's Hospital, Streator to Charles J. and Catherine A. (Sondgerath) Loebach. He married Eleanore Stopa on July 5, 1952. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before she passed away on Aug. 15, 2013. He graduated from Streator High School. He attended St. Bede Junior College and graduated with the class of 1951 in which he received an associate degree in accounting. Charles served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic and flight engineer from 1946-1949. He was supervisor of plant operations for Illinois Power Co. in Hennepin and retired in 1988 after 36 years. Charles was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church, in which he served as former president and secretary. He also was a member of Knights of Columbus, Fr. Peter Delo Council. After retirement Charles volunteered as a Red Coat at St. Margaret's Hospital for many years. He was a former coach for youth baseball, an avid fan of all his grandchildren's activities, and was involved in numerous Putnam County School activities. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanore, in 2013; and three brothers and two sisters.
