Terry Allen Vick, age 65, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Born in Rocky Mount, NC on December 15, 1950, he was the son of the late Paul A. Vick and Mildred Mills Vick. He was also preceded in death by his son, Terry Allen Vick, Jr.; his first wife, Paula Burnette Vick; his grandson, William Allen Carter; and his brother, Dannie Vick.

Terry was a member of the Rocky Mount Church of the Nazarene. He was a leader and cherished member of the community, having served as a volunteer fireman with the Battleboro Volunteer Fire Department and as an EMT-I with the Stoney Creek Rescue Squad. He enjoyed his time as a husband, father and grandfather during his retirement from over 20 years of work at the Battleboro Hardware Store.

His gift of singing brought joy to many. Terry’s passion for music continued throughout his life from his early days as a drummer in “The Road Runners”, a singer in the Rocky Mount Barbershop Chorus, to his time as a praise team leader at the churches he attended. Terry will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, and most of all for his unconditional love to all that knew him.

Terry spent his final days at his home in Rocky Mount in the loving care of his wife and dedicated caregivers: Felicia Blackmore, Vickie Griffin, Greg Howell, and Shayna Howell. The family is eternally grateful for the love and special care shown by friends, family, and the church community.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 13 years, Joan Vick; his daughter, Julie Carter and husband, Ron; his step-son, Tyler Lester and wife, Kelly; his step-daughter, Emily Lester. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Breanna, Eion, Isabel, Solomon, and Aeneas; his sister, Judy Vick; and sister-in-law, Rita Vick.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Mark Eby officiating. Burial will follow at Battleboro Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UNC Children’s Hospital, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
