Its determination was based upon a report in the Shasta Courier, dated Aug. 15, 1868, which announced the death and burial place of Caroline Conroy.

Family Search records indicate Caroline was the daughter of Bernard (b.1823) and Mary Conroy (b.1833), both of Ireland. The family were residents of Horsetown in the 1860's and 70's before moving to Redding where they were enumerated on the census of 1880.
