Howard A. Huber, 74, died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 1993, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.
The son of the late John and Barbara (Uhle) Huber was born April 12, 1919 in Nokomis.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Bethalto Knights of Columbus No. 4688, Wood River Moose Lodge No. 1349, Alton Eagles No. 254 and Bethalto American Legion Post 214.
He was first employed by Shell Oil Co. in Roxana as a pipefitter for 20 years, then worked on construction out of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 553 in East Alton and was employed at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, retiring in 1984.
He married the former Beatrice Lasbury on Jan. 27, 1949, in Wood River, She died Oct. 19 1981.
Surviving are two sisters, Edana Knapp of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Mary Ann Warren of Spokane, Wash.; two brothers, John Huber of Alton and Paul Huber of Godfrey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roman Huber.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, where he was a member. The Rev. James Flach is celebrant.
Burial will be in Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.
Memorials may be made to Masses or the American Cancer Society.
