Her 75th Birthday
Mrs. W.L. Manning, wife of Judge L. Manning celebrated her seventy-fifth birthday Wednesday. Mrs. Manning came to Shackelford County in the year 1879, and has lived here all these years. She has raised a family of nine children, lived with and put with too the whims of Uncle Bill, and still she is hale and hearty. Mrs. Manning was the recipient of many presents from her family and friends. You know folks it's a job worth while to mother nine children, tend and watch "em through childhood, then have the pleasure of seeing them blossom out into manhood, womanhood, see them all married and settled down in life. Now in her old age, she can look back and think of the many happy hours she has spent with them--. They are all babies to her still. There is no love like that of a mother. We congratulate Mrs. Manning for her service to her family, her state and nation--You know a human life, is a life of servicee, and the service that one renders to family, state and nation is the only service that is never forgotten.
