Suggested edit: Stephen Michel Cain, 40, of Cincinatti, Ohio, passed away last week at his home. Steve was born in Roanoke, Va. on October 18, 1952. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI), graduating in 1982 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. He was named a Distinguished Alumnus by the VPI Engineering Dept. in 1990, having also served as a campus recruiting executive and a member of the German Club. Fluent in Spanish, he worked and traveled internationally during his career. Steve is survived by his mother, Dorothy Cain of Ridgeway, Va.; his brother, Charles Cain and wife, Diane of Charlotte, N.C.; his sisters, Tricia Cain Cheney and husband, Brad of Holland, Mich. and Mary Cain Bongiorni and husband, Dennis of Durham, N.C.; his nieces, Michel and Andrea Bongiorni, as well as his loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Carroll Cain. A memorial mass to commemorate his life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 9, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Winston-Salem, N.C. Celebrants will be Father Frank O'Rourke and Father Jim Solari. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund, 704 E. Church St., Martinsville, Va. Vogler and Sons, Reynolda Chapel is handling the arrangements for the Cain family.
