British Actor. He was a versatile character actor whose career spanned eight decades. Although he appeared onscreen with some of the biggest stars on film, he will best be remembered for his role as Maester Aemon in HBO's 'Game of Thrones'. Born Peter Ewart Ohm, he grew up in Wellington and after Army service in Normandy, Belgium and the Far East, he returned to his budding career in repertory theater. In 1959, he made his film debut in an uncredited role in 'The 39 Steps'. Among other films he would have roles in were 'Smokescreen' (1964), 'The Naked Runner' (1967), 'Straw Dogs' (1971) 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' (1980), 'The Razor's Edge' (1984), 'The Remains of the Day' (1993), 'Fatherland' (1994), 'The Crucible' (1997) and 'Les Misérables' (1998), working alongside such actors as Frank Sinatra, Meryl Streep, Jeremy Irons, Anthony Hopkins, Bill Murray, Robert Carlyle, Ray Winstone and Liam Neeson. On television, he would appear in series and made-for-TV movies such as 'Porridge', 'Citizen Smith', 'The Gold Robbers', 'A Warning to the Curious', 'Fox', 'Fall of Eagles', 'Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years', 'War and Remembrance', 'Countdown to War', 'Bleak House', 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes', 'Our Friends in the North', 'Mobile' and 'Silk'.
