Dewey Ralph “Red” Jones, age 69, of Orlando’s Way, Lenoir, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 15, 1947 in Watauga County to the late William Smith and Daisy Stansberry Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Clifford, Harold, Bobby, Russell and Frank Jones; six half-brothers, Cecil, Earl, Bural, Lee, James, and Junior Jones; and five sisters, Sue Benge, Maxine Huffman, Edana Jones, Earlene Jones and Ruby Joyce Jones.
Mr. Jones was retired from the lumber yard where he was a stick layer and he was a member of New Hope Christian Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Long Jones of the home; one son, William Jones and wife Becky; two daughters, Amanda Church and husband David, and Stacy Jones and boyfriend Adalberto all of Lenoir; one sister, Jean Main of TN; nine grandchildren, Austin, Domanick, Cheyenne, Joel, Ariel, Mya, Sierra, Tera, and Kendra; three great-grandchildren, Wade, Peyton, and Kenya; three children from a previous marriage; Mark Jones and wife Michelle, Linda Campbell and husband Daniel, and Jimmy Jones and wife Unis; and three grandchildren and one step-grandson all of Granite Falls.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope Christian Community Church conducted by Pastor Jerry Tester and Rev. Jamie Blair. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. one hour prior to the service at the church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Jones, Domanick Church, Adalberto Chigo, Ray Long, David Church, Jamie Blair, Mark Austin and Joel Jones.
