Esther Ruth Groves Hall, 73, of Marietta passed away December 5, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 16, 1943, in Parkersburg, WV, to Henry and Dorothy Carpenter Groves.
Esther was a graduate of Alderson Broaddus College in 1964. She was a third grade teacher at Barlow Vincent School, teacher at Friendship School and had been a Christian Education Director at First Presbyterian Churches in Marietta, Cambridge and Parkersburg and the United Methodist Church in Parkersburg. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading and crossword puzzles. She will be missed.
She is survived by her husband, Merle W. Hall, sons, M. Whitten Hall amd M. Wesley Hall; grandchildren: Mahria and Michael Hall, Josh McQuaide, Mercedies Trescott, Malana and Trey Hall; great grandchildren, Alisha and Luke Hall; brother Rick (Debbie) Groves; brothers-in-law Gary (Linda) Hall and Mervin Erb and many nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Shelda Kathary and Shirley Erb.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (Dec. 8) at 1:00pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in East Lawn Memorial Park.
