Sacramento Daily Union, 11/22/1873: Died at Reno.
Lieutenant Hogan, of the United States army, who has made several trips through this city with detachments of soldiers whom he was conveying from San Francisco to posts in Nevada, etc., died at Reno Thursday, of pneumonia, after an illness of but three or four days. The lieutenant passed through Sacramento on his last trip to the other side of the mountains November 4th.

The body of Lieutenant P. H. Hogan, of the First Cavalry, arrived at Benicia November 22d, via Vallejo. He was taking a detachment of troops to a point in Nevada, when he was suddenly taken ill and died after a sickness of a few hours. The body will be buried November 24th at the barracks with military honors.
