Karen, 80 of Harrison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Medilodge Nursing Center in Clare. Karen was the daughter of James and Jeanett (Lavalley) Pulver.

She was united in marriage to Jack Merritt on December 2, 1963 in Florida, and the couple first moved to the Clare area in 1970.

During her working years, Karen worked for many area factories as part of their production lines. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was travelling back and forth from Florida on the Greyhound Bus, having known every stop on the way at one point in time.

Karen is survived by her son Tim (Dusty) Merritt, her grandchildren T.J. (Jessie) Merritt and Kyle Merritt, and great grandchildren Tucker and Izzy Merritt, all of whom live in Harrison. She is also survived by her sister Pearl Gordon of North Carolina.

Those predeceasing Karen include; her husband Jack Merritt, her parents James and Jeanett Pulver, and her sister Lois Keblaitis.

A memorial service in honor of Karen took place at the Brown Corners Church of Clare on Saturday, December 17, 2016, with Pastor Jeremiah Ketchum officiating. Burial took place in the Maple Grove Cemetery of Harrison at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Karen’s honor may be directed to the Children’s Ministry of Brown Corners Church.
