Laverne Burnard Taylor, 92, husband of the late Annie “Susie” Kelley Taylor and a resident of Birdsnest, VA, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his residence. A native of Birdsnest, he was the son of the late Harry L. Taylor, Sr. and the late Floria Lewis Taylor. He was a United States Navy Veteran, retired truck driver and member of Red Bank Baptist Church.

He is survived by three children, Suzanne T. Oliver and her husband, Manuel, of South Dartmouth, MA, Lisa T. Simpson of Marionville, VA, Toni T. Parks of West Chester, PA; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Laverne B. Taylor, Jr. and three brothers, Harry L. Taylor, Jr., Alvin Taylor and Edwin Taylor.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Arrangements were made by Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore, Virginia.
