Rachel E. Litwiller, 92, of Hopedale, passed away at 7:30 am Monday, December 5, 2016 at her home. She was born January 5, 1924 in rural Delavan to Simon and Katie Ehrisman Litwiller.

Surviving are one sister, Freda Litwiller of Hopedale; seven nieces; six nephews; and many great and great, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Esther Litwiller; four brothers, Lester, Chancy, William, and Allen Litwiller; two nephews, Robert and Cecil; and one great, great niece, Esther Rose.

She was an elementary school teacher.

Rachel was a member of Hopedale Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School.

She volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Eureka and as an ESL teacher in Bloomington.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Hopedale Mennonite Church. Pastors Kurt Walker and Roger Springer will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 am before the service, also at the church. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Hopedale is handling the arrangements.
