Through the years, Amy worked as an accountant and bookkeeper and moonlighted as a bartender at the Slipper Inn in Jeffers. Her career spanned forty years. On June 3, 1995, Amy was united in marriage to Kent Alan Engen at the Highwater Lutheran Church in rural Lamberton. After marriage, they made their home in rural Storden. For several years, Amy has had many health concerns and recently was placed in hospice care in her home where she passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at the age of 61 years.
Amy was a member of the Highwater Lutheran Church in rural Lamberton. She had many enjoyments in life which included her flower garden and yard, collecting elephants and salt and pepper shakers, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Amy is survived by her husband, Kent Engen of rural Storden; daughters, Angel Uribe (David Knutson) and their children, Hailey and Joshua Knutson of Eagle Lake; Joslyn Nelson (James Richard) and their children, Chloe and Joey Nelson of Elk River; mother and father-in-law, Marlis and Roger Engen of Lamberton and their families; four siblings, Kathleen Schwartz of Rodeo, CA; Vivian Newkirk of Acworth, GA; Vera Eileen Kelley of Acworth, GA; Tammy Lum of Rodeo, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Amy is preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Marion Karschnik and Melody Kay Newkirk; great niece Katie Grace Groebner.
