Meta' Faye departed this life at Long Term Care in Smith Center, KS.
'Faye' was one of 3 children born to Frank & Nellie Blanche (Casteel) Stanhope.
Faye attended school at Leesburg country school, then moved with her family
and finished school in Kensington, KS.
Faye worked at various jobs in the county where she met Lile Goebel, and they were married on November 23, 1941. To this union, one son, Paul, was born. After their marriage, they moved to Smith Center, KS, where Lile was employed. Lile later served in the Air Force during World War II. During that time, Faye lived with her parents in Kensington. After returning from the service, they moved to Phillipsburg, KS, where Lile was employed. They continued to live in Phillipsburg until Lile passed away on September 30, 1988. Son Paul passed away the following year on December 2, 1989. Faye moved to Smith Center a short time later to live with family members.
Faye was a homemaker and helped her husband in their family businesses.
Faye was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Phillipsburg, and later became a member of the Calvary Gospel Church in Smith Center, now known as the New Covenant Church. Faye was very active in her church and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lile, her son Paul, brother Mason, sister 'Verla' Mae, and brother-in-law Robert 'Bob' Hughes.
She is survived by her two nephews, both of Smith Center; two great-nieces;
a great-nephew; three great-great-nephews, all of Hays, other relatives and a host of friends.
A celebration of Faye's life was held at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Smith Center, KS.
There was not a public visitation as cremation was chosen. Inurnment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center.
