At an early age, Lee accepted Christ as his personal savior. In 1941, at the age of 17, Lee enlisted into the Army and he served, during WWII, until 1945. After the war, he moved to the east coast where he worked until 2001 for the New York Port Authority as a bus driver. After retiring, he returned to Conway where he united in marriage to Ms. Maxine Cole. Maxine was not only a loving wife but was also his best friend as well as an amazing caregiver who took the utmost care of him.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Annie Hampton Cox; and a friend, Ms. Bertha Sue Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Cole Hampton of Conway; three sons, Demetrius (Markiba) Cole, Eric Morris both of Conway, Micheal Morris of Jonesboro, AR; four daughters, Sharon (Cleveland) Smith of Conway, Tracy (Will) Waters of Saganaw, MI, Virginia Hampton of Chicago, IL, Wanda Nedra DeNice Bryant Thomas, GA; one brother, Frank (Margaret) Hampton, Jr. of Jackson, MI; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; seven nephews, Lyle (Stacie) Hampton, Frank (Cherise) Hampton III, Basil (Mia) Hampton, Haywood (Cheri) Hampton, Quentin (Diane)Hampton, Lee (Melinda) Hampton, Sam (Luvenia) Cox all of Jackson, MI; five nieces, Massena Hampton, Annita Hampton, Beatrice Hampton, Camilla (Maurice) Burton, LaDonna Lewis all of Jackson, MI; two special friends, David Kendrick and Earl Gene Dickerson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at Veasley Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at True Holiness Saints Center, 198 Hwy 286 East, Conway. Interment will be held at Robinson Cemetery, Conway.
