Mrs. Catherine Warren Callahan, 96, died peacefully November 2, 2016, at the home of her daughter-in-law, Betty Mixon, in Evans, Georgia.

Catherine was born October 24, 1920 in Colquitt, Georgia, to Joseph Warren and Arrie Mae Lunsford Warren.

She grew up in Lake Wales, and later lived many years in Tampa and Trenton, before moving to Augusta in 1996 to be near her son and his family. Her hobbies included reading, gardening and traveling. After moving to Augusta, she was active with the Senior Center and participated in the Miss Senior Augusta Pageant, as well as served as a volunteer tax preparer with AARP.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Luther Callahan; sister, Josie Skinner; brother, Milton Warren; daughter, Carolyn Inez Mixon; and sons, William E. Mixon, Jr. and John Warren Mixon; and stepson, Robert Callahan.

She is survived by daughters-in-law, Betty Stokes Mixon, Evans, Georgia, and Sharyn Sage Mixon, Lutz; and her stepchildren, Pete (Eva Jo) Callahan of McIntosh, and Dorothy Questa of Trenton. She is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-children.

At Catherine’s request, her body was donated to the Medical Center at Augusta University for medical advancement. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
