James “Jim” Monzelle Aills was born December 25, 1923 in Gladewater, Texas to John and Ora Lee Aills. Mr. Aills was a graduate of Pine Tree High School. Lieutenant Aills served our country during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He was a B-24 Liberator pilot in the 15th Airforce, 744th Squadron, 456th Bombardment Group. On his 33rd mission they were shot down and he was captured by the Germans. Mr. Aills was awarded two Purple Hearts and an Air Medal. Jim retired after 33 years from Sun Oil Company as a manager. Mr. Aills was a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge #101.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Taylor Aills and his daughter, Kelly McGilvary.
