Mr. Samuel Hopkins Congdon, a nephew of the late Johns Hopkins, died late Tuesday night at Dr. Jose Sammani's Sanatorium, 2231 East Biddle street.
Mr. Congdon had been at the sanatorium since July last, under treatment for a trouble of the liver. Dr. John I. Gross and Dr. Sammani were both attending him.
For some years Mr. Congdon was connected with the firm of Janney & Congdon, rubber merchants, 8 North Charles street, but about eight years ago Mr. Congdon withdrew from the firm. He was born in Providence, R. I., and was a son of the late Gilbert Congdon, a Quaker preacher. He was fifty-two years old.
He leaves five children, who are living with their mother at 1312 Park avenue. His brother, Johns Hopkins Congdon, of Providence, has been notified, and it is thought he will take charge of the remains."
