Jay is survived by his wife, Bonnie; three children: Dannie Jay (Michele), Arthur James (Jeanne) and Karen (Craig Yates); six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Chad and sister, Judy Giesler. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Darlene.
He graduated from West High School where he excelled in sports, and held the high jump record for decades. In 1948, he played on the WHS basketball team that took state.
He served in the US Army Signal Corps. He worked for 30 years at Unisys Electronics Equipment Company in Salt Lake City as a Supervisor. Upon retirement he split time between Star Valley Ranch Wyoming and St. George until moving permanently to St. George in 2002.
Jay loved golfing with family and friends, especially when he won their money. Jay always kept busy: he enjoyed house projects, painting, and traveling with wife Bonnie to visit family, friends and special places. He enjoyed many creative hours with his painting hobby. He painted many award winning pictures and he was proud to have painted scenes on over 500 golf hats for friends and family.
Jay will be remembered as a fun loving sociable guy and was a best friend to many.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.
