Loyal was born September 15, 1925, the oldest child of Loyal and Wilma (Steere) Beard, Sr. He served during WWII in the Army/Air Corp. Loyal married Barbara Newton on May 15, 1959. He worked for the State of Michigan with MDOT and after retiring worked at Walt Disney World as the conductor/engineer for the steam train that ran through Magic Kingdom.
He was a life member and former past master of the Masonic Lodge in Crystal, the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Posey and was an inaugural member of the Montcalm pony express. Loyal enjoyed travelling, racing snow mobiles in Traverse City and Sault Ste. Marie, hunting and was known to be a sharp shooter.
Loyal is survived by his wife Barbara, children Chris (Aleasha) Beard, and Sheri (Dan Schuler) Beard, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, sister Irene Gladding and two uncles.
Loyal was preceded in death by his parents, brother Merle and sister Georgeann Lucas.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carson City Home Care or the Stanton Masonic Lodge #250.
