Joan M. Woelfel, age 68, of Chilton and Cape Coral, FL, died on Friday, October 28, 2016 at her home in Chilton. She was born January 18, 1948 in Charlestown, daughter of the late Harvey & Marie (Steiner) Roehrig. Joan married Gerry Woelfel on September 9, 1972 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown.

Joan and her husband worked side by side for over twenty years at Furniture Plus in Brillion. Using the skills she acquired at Bryant Stratton Business College in Milwaukee, Joan was the brains of the business -- managing the office and corporate finances.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Martin Parish where she was actively involved with the Christian Women. She was also a member of the Charlestown Branch of the Catholic Knights and St. Therese Parish in North Fort Meyers, FL. In her free time, she volunteered with the Cape Coral Hospital Auxiliary Sewing Club, belonged to the Cape Coral Hobby Club and always looked forward to watching the Green Bay Packers. She also never passed up an opportunity to soundly beat her husband at a game of Cribbage or Rummy .

Joan loved giving of herself to others in order to make their lives better. She wouldn't hesitate to offer a word of encouragement or lend a hand to help someone in need. She was always supportive and selfless in all she did, especially for her family. Joan was truly Gerry's best friend and the greatest source of inspiration and encouragement to her children.

Survivors include her husband: Gerry; her children: Stephanie Woelfel of San Gabriel, CA and Neil Woelfel of Milwaukee; two sisters: Rita (Dave) Unser of Cape Coral & Patricia Roehrig of Milwaukee; a brother: Lee (Vicki) Roehrig of Chilton; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ronald (Mary Alice) Schueler of Campbellsport, Alan (Marcia) Woelfel of Beloit, Donald Woelfel of Minnesota; and an uncle: Otto Steiner. Joan is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Vi Schueler; and a brother-in-law: Gilbert Woelfel.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Ryan Krueger officiating. Burial will be in the St. Martin Catholic Cemetery in Charlestown.
