Charlotte Jean Ellis of Miami, OK passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at her home. She was 87.
Charlotte was born April 30, 1929 in Hockerville, OK to Leroy and Mary Elnora (Lenox) Hansford. She moved from Hockerville to Picher in 1944 where she lived until moving to Miami in 2007. Charlotte was a member of Cardin Baptist Church for many years before becoming a member of Hdson Creek Baptist Church south of Miami.
Charlotte married Herschel Ellis on February 25, 1946 and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2002. She was also preceded by her parents and her siblings, Jay Hansford, Leroy Hansford, Billy Ray Hansford, Chester Hansford, Lina Ellis, Juanita Barger and Betty Wilkinson.
Charlotte is survived by her children Gary Lee Ellis and his wife Sharon Marie of Tulsa, OK and Marilyn Jean Southard and her husband Bill of Miami, OK, 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
Services will be Monday, December 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Hudson Creek Baptist Church, south of Miami, OK. Rev. Jerry Jones will officiate. Interment will be in Baxter Springs Cemetery, Baxter Springs, KS with Keith Southard, Gabriel Huffman, Kade Huffman, Chip Scott, Jason Swarer, Seth Likens and Briley Ellis serving as pallbearers. Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
