Ruth Modell Gross-Bates

Sherman- Thank you God for letting us experience your love and joy through our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Ruth Modell Gross-Bates. Born April 16, 1931 in Denton, TX.

She will be lovingly remembered by all for her warm heart, giving nature, gracious hospitality, and unwavering love and devotion for everyone.

She is lovingly remembered by: her husband Leon Bates of Sherman; her brothers and their wives, Jerry and Beverly Argo and Richard and Margo Argo; her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Brenda Gross of Sherman; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mike Gentry of Durant; and her daughter-in-law Peggy Gross. She is joining many friends and loved ones in heaven including: her husband of 54 years, Leo Gross; her son, Larry Gross; and her grandson “Little” Larry Gross.

As “Mimi”, she was loved and adored by: Tiffany and Ken Fisher, Carli and Jeremie Fisher, Casey and Bryan Bagley, April and Dan Walenski, Charity and Chong Jones, Josiah and Deidra Gentry, Blake and Jonathan Gentry, and Garon Gross. She was great-grandmother to 10 great-grandchildren.

She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother while also enjoying her passion for reading, writing, genealogy, and even the occasional game of Burger Time. She could hunt and fish with the best of them and then come home and host a get together and cook a spread that would put the best to shame. Whether you were a part of the Reliable Life family, the Nikken family, a friend, or relation, she made everyone feel welcome in her home.
Her greatest gift to us all and her legacy was the magic that she created for her family. Her love, devotion, and open home created a sense of unitythat has been passed down through three generations and continues to this day.

We will be celebrating her life and our love for her this Wednesday, December 7 at 10:00AM at Grayson Bible Baptist Church, 4400 E. Hwy 82, Sherman, TX 75090.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Bible Believers’ Evangelistic Association, Inc., 393 CR 2934, Alba, TX 75410-5585, (903)768-2465. Donations may also be made online at www.bbea.org. Thanks in advance for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We love her more than words can possibly express. She will be missed more than anyone can imagine. Every day we will lean on the simple truth that she is still with us all, holding our hands, giving us hugs, and helping us through our journey in life. And, when our own journeys are complete, we’ll know where to find her – she’ll be waiting for us with open arms, a warm laugh, and the best spread in Heaven (with extra gravy).
