Mary is survived by her sister, Julia Samko; extended family, Raymond and Rachael Powell, Virginia and Cotton Brooks, Hubert Swindler Jr. and Lorraine Samko. Mary is one of nine siblings and grew up on a farm and was no stranger to hard work. She was also a member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Ave in the city of Hopewell. Her funeral ceremony and burial will follow at 2 P.M. in Appomattox Cemetery.
