Obituary of George Ben Phelps
George Ben Phelps, 82, of Gulfport died Sunday, November 27, 2016 in Gulfport. He was born in Gulfport. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as a CPO after over 20 years of service. He was Baptist.

Mr. Phelps was a life member of the following organizations: American Legion Post # 119, Gulfport, VFW Post 4526, Gulfport, MOC PT 2, Gulfport, DAV Chapter 5, Gulfport, Elks Lodge # 606, Biloxi and was a member of Eagles Aries 383, Traverse City, MI.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie D. Phelps; sisters, Scottye Sauls and Rayma Marengo; and step-son, Michael Silva.

Mr. Phelps is survived by six step-daughters, Joan Ezzo, Phil Copp, Patricia Welch, Pamela Silva, Paula McPhetres and Angela Cockrell; a step-son, John Bourque; a sister, Sherry Daniel of Gulfport; longtime companion, Elaine Faye Monroe Ledet; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. at Biloxi National Cemetery.

Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, O’Neal Road, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
