Billy was born on January 20, 1931 in Catawba County to the late Audie Hullette and Ellen Elizabeth Elmore. He regularly attended Burns Memorial Baptist Church and was employed as a cab driver.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Michael Hullette; one stepson, Ervin Cook; one grandson, Michael Blake Sipes; one son-in-law, Steve Whisnant; and two brothers Frank Hullette and Austin "Bud" Hullette. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Joyce Carpenter-Hullette of Connelly Springs; three sons, Billy Hullette of Cheraw, Gary Cook and wife Anita of Vale, and Derek Carpenter and fiancée Emily Lawson of Low Gap; two daughters, Libby Whisnant of Morganton and Gail Hullette of Drexel; two brothers, Gene Hullette and wife Judy of Winston Salem and Audie Hullette Jr. and wife Belinda of Cherryville; one sister, Faye Beard of Maiden; one step-sister, Marlene Hoots of Hickory; eleven grandchildren, Misty Hullette and husband Rob, Ashley Hullette, Kristie Hullette, Shelley Hullette, Jennifer Hullette, Joseph Hullette, Heather Hullette, Josh Cook, Adam Cook, Emily Cook, and Tonya Whisnant; and four great-grandchildren, Nakota Hullette, Jordan Moore, Sierra Moore, and Alana Higdon.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Burns Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Huffman and Rob Hullette officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard.
