ILLNESS IS FATAL TO JAMES L. BLAIR COUNTY HOME HEAD
Widely-Known Legionnaire Died Wednesday Evening In Local Hospital
James L. Blair, 63, superintendent of the Beaver County Home, Potter township, and well-known throughout the county, died at 9:05 o'clock Wednesday evening in Rochester Hospital following an operation for a gall bladder ailment.
The operation was performed March 1 and he was believed to be progressing satisfactorily until his condition took a decided turn for the worse Wednesday. He was placed in an oxygen tent Wednesday morning. During the afternoon his condition became critical and he (continued on page 12) grew gradually weaker until death resulted.
He was born in Clarion County, the son of Samuel Q. and Bella Lawson Blair. He had been a resident of the county about fifteen years and the last three and one-half years had been superintendent of the Beaver County Home, in which he had served faithfully and efficiently.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian church, Rochester: Enon Valley Lodge, No 411. Free and Accepted Masons: Lodge of Perfection of New Castle Conisitory: United Commercial Travelers and the American Legion. He was a past commander of Koppel Post. American Legion, and the last year of two was a member of Monacatooth Post. No 580, American Legion, Monaca. He also was a trustee of the Monaca Turn Verein.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ella Lawson Blair; three daughters, Mrs. S N Pollock, Butler; Mrs John F. Zarle, Beaver Falls; and Miss Grace E. Blair, New Kensington; one brother, Fred L. Blair, Evans City: and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Lyons and Mrs. Blanche Travis, Butler, and Mrs George Cole and Miss Frances Blair, Evans City.
The body was removed to the Hartzel Funeral Home, Rochester, pending funeral arrangements.
The body was removed to this afternoon to the Blair family home at the county home, where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock
