Patricia "Patsy" Petersen, 78, of Turin, Iowa passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Unity Point Heath- St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Castana Community Church with Pastor Linda Boggs and Pastor Harvey Hanson, officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, rural Turin, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 2, 2016 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Patricia Alice was born August 16, 1938 on the farm near Castana, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Eva (Hoar) Anderson. She grew up in the Castana area and graduated from Castana High School in 1956.

Patsy and Paul Petersen Jr. were united in marriage on March 9, 1957 in Castana, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Susan, Sandra, and Roger. The couple were lifelong farmers on their family farm near Turin, Iowa. Patsy also worked for several years at the Onawa State Bank in Onawa, Iowa.

Patsy enjoyed playing cards, gardening, farming, baking, cooking, sewing, crafts, and especially spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Castana Community Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school, was youth group leader, sang in the church choir, and played many years as church organist at many functions. She was a 4-H leader and loved spending time with the kids. She enjoyed bridge club and being involved with the Junior 76ers. Patsy and Paul were charter members of Monona Services (currently Crossroads of Western Iowa) and volunteered for their summer camp every year.

Survivors include her husband Paul Petersen Jr. of Turin, IA; two daughters, Susan (Bob) Steiner of Turin, IA and Sandra (Matt) Pflug of Ames, IA; grandchildren, Nicholas, Vanessa, and Brandon Pflug, Eric (Dana) Steiner, and Betsy Mefferd; great-grandchildren, Dalton Mefferd, Logan Mefferd, Kole, Reece, and Jace Steiner; two sisters, Cathy (Brady) Hanson of Castana, IA and Nancy (Harvey) Hanson of Castana. IA; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Juliff of Lee's Summit, MO

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eva (Hoar) Anderson; her son, Roger Petersen; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Oma (Mann) Petersen; sister, Dorothy Anderson; brother-in-law, Myron Juliff; and granddaughter, Kelsey Pflug.
