AYERS, Alda Lucile, 95, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Donna's Care in Brooksville. She was born in Spring Lake to John David Ayers and Alda Hope Ayers, attended school there and graduated from Hernando High School. She was a descendant of four Hernando County Pioneer Families. In 1949 she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Florida. She taught school 43 years, 26 of those years in Hernando County. She also taught in West Palm Beach and Pasco County. She was a former longtime member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Betty Lykes Stringer Chapter of U.D.C. She served on the Hernando Historical Commission and was secretary to the Hernando Historical Museum Board for one year. After her return from West Palm Beach she moved back to the family home in Spring Lake where she grew up, and taught school in Hernando County until her retirement. Lucile was a fifth generation John Wesley Methodist. She is survived by a great-nephew; a great-niece; a cousin; and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. There will not be a visitation. Services will be held at Turner Funeral Homes Brooksville Chapel on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Roland Nelson officiating.
