Elizabeth R. Strickland

Elizabeth (Betty) R. Strickland, 91, passed away on Sunday, November 27 in Lakeland, Fl. Betty was born on April 19, 1925 to Fred and Thelma Ruland in Daytona Beach, and was a lifelong resident.

She worked for Southern Bell/Bell South for 31 ½ years before retiring in 1982. Betty started as an operator, and over the years worked her way up to Frame Attendant in the central office. She was a lifetime member of the Southern Bell Pioneers, loved the outdoors, and especially puttering around in her garden and nurturing her plants and flowers. Betty was a great mother and friend to her 3 children and will be missed enormously.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, and oldest son, Richard and is survived by her two remaining children, Marsha (Ron) Bochenek and Steve (Susan) Strickland as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 2 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona beginning at 12:30 with a visitation beginning one hour prior.
