Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Saturday December 3, 2016 at First Church of Christ and will be officiated by Keith Lewis, Ray West and Steve Hill. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Joshua Watson, John Watson, Mark T. Watson, Brian Watson, Mark A. Watson, Aaron Watson and Ray Kennedy will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Watson was born in Pamlico County on November 8, 1942 to the late Adrian Earl Watson and Verlie Hope Rowe Watson. He was a 1961 graduate of Pamlico County High School, attended Roanoke Bible College and served in the United States Army. On August 29, 1964 he married Janet Tyson who survives. He was employed for many years as a home builder with Muriel Moore. After retiring, he served with the DART Team, IDES and other disaster relief services in many states, helping in all areas, even his home community of Lowland after Hurricane Irene. He was a lifelong member of the Optimist Club and was a member of First Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Janet T. Watson of the home, his son, Bruce C. Watson, Jr. and wife Athy of Cary, his daughter, Bonnie W. McCants and husband David of New Bern, one sister, Evelyn Barker of Warsaw, Virginia, two brothers, A.E. Watson of Lowland, Rodney Watson and wife Debbie of New Bern, five grandchildren, Joshua Watson, John Watson, Mark Watson, Janie McCants and Ella McCants.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:30 am Saturday December 3, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
