Decatur-Jerry L. McClure, 73 of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Jerry was born August 27, 1943 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Robert D. and Ardell J. (Wetherholt) McClure. He graduated from Lakeview High School and proudly served his country in the USAF. Jerry retired from Caterpillar on May 1, 2002 after thirty-six years of service. He was a member of Northwest Christian Church and enjoyed traveling, reading, watching the history channel, national geographic channel, and horror movies. Jerry married Beverly Berry on April 22, 2002.
Jerry leaves behind his wife Beverly, son Shawn (Sarah) McClure, sister Jan (Gary) Durbin, granddaughter Evie McClure, stepchildren Wayne Shealy, Felicia Hoots, and Annette (Ray) Hardin, twelve step-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren, and his beloved cat Callie.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mark McClure.
Jerry will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Monday, December 5, 2016 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Private family graveside services will be held in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Northwest Christian Church.
