Gunnery Sergeant Jack L. Suess. "Gunny", United States Marine Corps, retired, of St. Augustine, FL died peacefully November 24th, 2016 Thanksgiving Day. He is survived by his children Jack (Debby) Suess, Patricia (Victor) Loun, Robert (Elizabeth) Suess, William (Charlene) Suess, Donna (Earl) Lett and Barbara (Randy) Vaughn, 17 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many Friends. Preceded in death by his Parents, Siblings and two Grandchildren.
Born in Yoakum, Texas in 1931 to Walter and Louise Suess. Gunny retired from USMC in 1968. He served his Country proudly and earned the Marine Corps China Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal to name a few. Being a Marine gave him and his Family great pride. He loved trains, building model airplanes and sharing meals with those he loved. Everyone loved Gunny and he loved everyone. His heart and generosity will forever be his legacy.
The family would like to thank his Doctors, Nurses, Caregivers, Therapist and Hospice for taking loving care of him. He will forever be in our hearts.
Gunny will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. “Semper Fidelis”
