Ron was born the son of Rex and Lillian (Dowell) Ewing on July 14, 1937, in Eversonville, Missouri. He was raised and attended school in Chillicothe, Missouri. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. He worked for Colony Paints, Tension Envelope and for Johnson Foods as a product developer for 15 years. Ron and Peggy were avid animal lovers, and loved fishing together on their boat at Hillsdale Lake. When they were not fishing, they were always doing something together. Ron and Peggy were rarely apart from the first day they met. He loved to show dogs, especially Chows.
Survivors include the love of his life, Peggy (Blackwell) Ewing of the home; two sons, Ron Ewing of Kansas City, Kansas, and Don Ewing and wife Dawn of Kansas City, Kansas; two daughters, Debbie Mason and husband Steve of Kansas City, Kansas, and Cindy Fletcher and husband Jack of Leavenworth, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Ewing and wife Lydia of Independence, Missouri; one sister, Doris Fields of Kansas City, Kansas; and his loyal canine companion, Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Edna Johnson, Lucille McCracken, and Louise Bartholome.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, December 3, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, Missouri.
