She was born February 2, 1934 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of the late Joe C. and Margaret Morris Humiston.
Joan was a graduate of Mason City High School and in earlier years was employed by AT&T in Iowa. For most of Joan's life she was a dedicated homemaker. She had also volunteered for Jamestown Free Methodist Church, Lakewood Baptist Church and had served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader and secretary.
She was a member of the Falconer Peace Wesleyan Church, Best Years Fellowship, and Jamestown Christian Women's Organization.
Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking, sewing, counted cross stitch and tri chem painting. She also enjoyed singing gospel music with her husband Carl at several area nursing homes.
Surviving are her husband Carl E. Sellers of Gerry, whom she married May 28, 1954 in Mason City, Iowa; three sons: Rev. Bruce E. (Linda) Sellers of Lancaster, PA, Duane L. (Gena) Sellers of Kaufman, TX, Mark A. (Sandy) Sellers of Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren: Jessica Jones, Ashley Sellers, Amanda Sellers, Aimee Brown, Emilee Sellers; several great grandchildren and a brother Jack Humiston of Colorado Springs, CO.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Terry Humiston; two sisters: Harriett Rentz and Pauline Winger.
The funeral was held in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Jason Claydon, pastor of Peace Wesleyan Church, officiated with burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
