HYRUM, Cache County -- Preston A. Nielsen, 27, died Wednesday morning at the home of his parents, 123 E. Main St., Hyrum after a lingering illness.

He was born June 17, 1921, in Hyrum, a son of Arnold W. and Ada Nielsen Nielsen. A farmer by occupation. He attended grade school in Hyrum and South Cache high school, Hyrum.

He married Marie Krebs July 18, 1946 in the Logan Temple Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Active in church activities, he had served as a missionary to the north central slates from 1941 to 1943. He also saw duty in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, serviving in south Pacific.

Survivors include his wife and parents, Hyrum. A brother, Seymour J., serving in LDS mission in Denmark and four sisters, Mrs. Martha Hurren, Nina Gayle, Melva and Janice Nielsen, Hyrum.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hyrum Third ward chapel by Earle Allen, bishop. Friends may call at the family home. Hyrum, Friday evening and Saturday until time of services. Burial in the family plot of the Hyrum Cemetery will be under direction of Thompson Funeral home, Hyrum.
