He was retired from the Houston County Public Works Department where he worked on the Compactor Crew and the Water Department. He was a member of Mathis Chapel Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia.
He was married to Annie Maude Small. He was preceded in death by 1 son: David Craig Small, 4 sisters: Lizzie, Melissa, Minnie Mae and Daisy, and 5 brothers: Willie Small, J. C. Small, Ulysses Small, Jim Small and Evan C. Small.
