Bruce Bunting Spencer, 90, of Sophia, died Monday, November 28, 2016 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery with Pastor Steve McSwain officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Born February 6, 1926 in Randolph County, Mr. Spencer was the son of the late Stanley and Ethel Spencer. He was married to the "love of his life", the former, Joanne Wrape for 64 years, who preceded him in death this past January. They spent many wonderful years together raising their four children and growing their farm. Mr. Spencer enjoyed taking the family on day trips being back "at milking time". He was a retired dairy farmer, a welder and enjoyed woodworking.

Mr. Spencer was a member of Marlboro Friends meeting and a Birthright Quaker. He was a member of the New Market Civitans and a former member of New Market PTA. Mr. Spencer was a former Vice President of the Randolph County Farm Bureau and a former board member of Farmers Dairy. He was known by friends and neighbors as "the fixer", for his ability to fix anything. His favorite trip was returning to Germany where he served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Tech Corporal. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Spencer was the last of 8 children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Iris, Farlow, Ronald Spencer, Harry Spencer, Bonyiar McCort, Dolly Redding, Gordon Spencer, Orelia "Regie" McAden.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his children, Deborah Leonard (Eddie) of Sophia, Barry Spencer (Gina) of Sophia, Brent Wesley Spencer of Sophia, and Mary Vaughn (Ken) of Randleman; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Barry and Gina Spencer.
