Beverly Fay Riley, 72, of Elkhart, died at 7:25 pm, Wednesday, November 23 at the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.

She was born April 27, 1944 in Palmer, TN to Buford and Gladys (Overturf) Sissom. She was a 1962 graduate of Jimtown High School.

Beverly is survived by her daughter Tami Lapp (Mike), Bristol; Granddaughters, Marisa and Madelin Lapp, both of Elkhart; sisters, Charlotte Haggard, Joyce Gordy, Nancy Frost (Mel), and Debra Lienhart (Kenneth) all of Elkhart; brothers, John Sisson (Linda), Keith Sissom, several nieces and nephews, all of Elkhart; and her companion, Stephen Kash, Ft. Myers, FL.

Beverly loved to knit, crochet, and write poetry. She published a book of poems titled, “A Promise to Mama” and donated the profits to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in memory of her mother. She made and donated many hats for chemo patients working with Knots of Love Caps and Halos of Hope.

Preceding Beverly in death were her parents, sisters Peggy Fults and Cathy Albert, and a brother Leon Sissom.

Friends may call from 2 until 4 pm and 6 until 8 pm, Friday, December 2, 2016 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Riverview General Baptist Church, 1201 E. Indiana Ave, Elkhart, with Reverend Rick Pirtle officiating. Private graveside services will take place at Olive Cemetery.
