PORTLAND - Helen Claire Anderson, 93, went to her heavenly home, Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016. Helen was born Sept. 12, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Ada Cornelius Hendrickson.
Helen grew up on the Hendrickson farm south of Alvarado, Minn. in Polk County and was brought up in a Christian home. She attended and belonged to the Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, where her grandfather, Ole Hendrickson, was a charter member. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. As a little child, she was taught how much Jesus loves little children. Helen attended Lakeside School, a one room schoolhouse, after the eighth grade she went to Alvarado High School for one year and then graduated from Oslo High School with the Class of 1942.
She was preceded in death by her sister Gladys and her two brothers Menford and Clarence. Clarence passed away during infancy. She married Edward James Anderson on Nov. 6, 1947. They lived in Warren, Minn. until 1947 when they purchased a house in Alvarado where they spent all their married life. Ed worked several jobs until he was employed at the Great Northern Railway, he preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1983. Helen was very involved in the Lutheran Church in Alvarado.

Later in life Helen moved to Windham and stayed with her daughter Cheryl and her husband Larry and eventually was put into Seaside Healthcare in Portland where she remained until her passing. Cheryl Ann Huff preceded her in death in 2012. She is survived by her two sons James Edward of Columbia, SC, and John Michael of Abilene, Kan., her son-in-law Larry Huff of Portland; her grandchildren and family Anthony Huff, Nicholas and Rhonda Huff, Melissa Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Tyler and Bess Anderson, Caycee Anderson; her great-great-grandchildren and family, Chelsea Huff, Rebecca Huff, Molly Anderson, and Brooke Anderson and Jessica Grosz.
