Joe Greene, age 59, of Garden Valley, GA passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 14, 2012 at The Oaks Nursing and Personal Care Home from this life as a result of lung cancer.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Mark Poole will officiate the services. Burial will immediately follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Greene was born on December 28, 1952 in Montezuma, GA in the Macon County Clinic to the late Raymond Irvin Greene, Sr. and Frances Souter Greene. He was a graduate of Macon County High School and attended Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. He was of the Baptist faith, a retired farmer and could build anything he set his mind to do and is responsible for building his own home and a butterbean picker. He was a great electrician and an avid outdoorsman and loved animals very much. He also enjoyed raising vegetables for his business, A. J.’s Produce.
