Name on World War I draft registration is CHARLEY, with signature.
Last residence, per SSDI, was Alton, MO.
Charlie Braswell was a preacher who never married. After loosing his high school love, he became something of a hermit. He lived in a cave, and he did not have a car. He was a good cement and concrete builder/worker. He built the first bridge across Piney Creek in Alton, MO. The health department made him move out of the cave, so he built himself a cabin at the top of the hill on the road to the cave. His cabin was always clean. He would save up money to travel, and he traveled a lot back and forth between Texas and Missouri. Charlie was eccentric but sociable. He was very knowledgeable about geography and the Bible. We think he traveled to South America a number of times. He was pretty well known around the county and generally considered to be eccentric by most.
