In early life Porter farmed and taught school. Later he was a rural letter carrier at Mystic, Iowa and served 36 years until retirement. In 1961 the Porters moved to Seymour, Iowa. He was active in school and church work and was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Seymour. He was a good neighbor and always willing to help others. He is survived by his 3 children, 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, 3 sisters: Louise Porter, California; Gladys Wailes, Centerville, Iowa and Grace Ross, Cincinnati, Iowa and 1 brother Briggs Porter, Lodi, CA.
He was married to Edna Kinney 3 Aug 1968 and she died in 1969.
The funeral will be 29 Jun at Liggett-Randolph Funeral Home, Seymour with interment at Jerome Cemetery, Jerome, IA. Grandsons were pallbearers.
