Clifford E. Welch, Sr., 85, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at St. John's Hospital-Lebanon.

He was born June 28, 1921, in Wortham, Mo., to John W. Welch and Nettie M. Dixon Welch.

On Sept. 8, 1943, he married Doris Hudson, who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Beulah Horton, Dorella Martin and Bertha Lawson; one brother, William Welch and one grandson, Jimmy Sanders.

He was retired from the United States Navy and was employed with Civil Service.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Sanders, of Fair Play and Janice Buttram, of Conway; two sons, Clifford Welch, of Lebanon and Alan Lee Welch, of Sullivan; two sisters, Dorothy Haynes and Virginia Lee Cresnell, of St. Louis; two brothers, Howard Welch, of St. Louis and Ray Welch, of Pacific; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services for Clifford E. Welch, Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Christine Gilson officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park with military honors by V.F.W. Post No. 4107, under the direction of Shadel's Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.

Friends may call at their convenience at Shadel's Colonial Chapel.

A memorial has been established to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
