Peter J. Herr, loving husband, father, papa and brother, age 71, of Swanton, Ohio, tragically left this earth, Saturday, November 26, 2016, as the result of a hunting accident in Branch County, Michigan. The son of the late
Cyrillus and Helena (Coesfeld), Pete was born in Metamora, Ohio on November 29, 1944. He attended St. Mary's School in Assumption and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1962. Pete married the love of his life, Julie Schafer on
February 27, 1965.
Pete was a 50 year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 50. He enjoyed bowling and golfing, but most of all, had a passion for the great outdoors. Whether it was hunting or just being outdoors and feeding the birds, he loved being surrounded by nature.
Pete was a member of the NRA, Lytton Fox Hunters, Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Catholic Knights of Ohio, and Adams Conservation Club.
Pete will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 51 years,
Julie; daughters, Lynda (John) Seabolt and Nancy Herr; grandchildren,
Kasey (Jason) Hogan, Amanda (Sean) Seabolt-Martin, Nikolas Herr, Breana Seabolt (Mason) and Ian Seabolt; and 3 great-grandchildren, Brady, Landon and Addison. Pete is also survived by his brothers, Mike (Norma) Herr, Rick (Jill) Herr, Randy Herr, Dan (Auneta) Herr; sisters, Beth (Roger) Norris and Theresa Herr; special friend, Onalee Waldo; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by special friend, Dick
Waldo, and stepmother, Phyllis E. (Ott) Herr.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St., in Swanton . A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
