Beth E. Brown, age 91, of Gatesville passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home with The Rev. Dr. Buddy Wheat officiating.

Beth was born on September 1, 1925 in Gibbon, Nebraska to the late Jack Griess and Margaret Webbon Griess. She attended school in Gibbon, Nebraska, graduating from Gibbon High School. She married Loy Gene Brown in 1945.

She was a “Rosie the Riveter” at Tinkers Field during WWII. She worked for Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice where she was the first female food service captain. She retired in 1985.

She loved her kids and grandkids, to decorate her house, and also enjoyed her job at T.D.C.J. and her new cars. Beth volunteered at Coryell Museum and Historical Center. She had been a resident at The Welcome Program/Oaks at Coryell Memorial Hospital, where she enjoyed friendships with staff and residents. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gatesville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Gene Brown; and daughter, Kristi Brown.

Beth is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Jones; son, Loy Gene Brown Jr. (Butch) and wife, Alice; grandchildren, Clay Jones, Denise Williams and husband, Scott, Sharla Chambers and husband, James; great-grandchildren, Garrett Williams, Katelyn Smith and husband, Kris, Alli Chambers, and Madi Chambers; and great-great-grandchild, Anthony Smith.
